SUBJECT:

UPDATE OF UTILITY REIMBURSEMENT ACCOUNT FEES IN COMPLIANCE
WITH RESOLUTION M-4841

San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) hereby submits the following revisions to its
electric and gas tariffs, as shown in the enclosed Attachment A and B, respectively.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Advice Letter is to update utility reimbursement account fees in compliance
with California Public Utilities Commission (Commission) Resolution M-4841.
BACKGROUND
Section 431 of the Public Utilities Code provides:
“The Commission shall annually determine a fee to be paid by
every electrical, gas, telephone, telegraph, water, sewer system,
and heat corporation and every other public utility providing
service directly to customers or subscribers and subject to the
jurisdiction of the Commission other than a railroad, except as
otherwise provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 421).”
On July 16, 2020, the Commission adopted Resolution M-4841 updating the reimbursement
account fees effective October 1, 2020 from $0.058 to 0.130 cents/kWh for electric and from
$0.247 to 0.577 cents/therm for gas. Accordingly, SDG&E is submitting revisions to Schedules
E-PUC and G-PUC to comply with the Resolution.
EFFECTIVE DATE
Pursuant to Resolution M-4841, this submittal is a Tier 1 (effective pending staff approval) and
shall become effective on October 1, 2020.

Sheet No. 23718-G Sheet 1 SCHEDULE G-PUC SURCHARGE TO FUND PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION REIMBURSEMENT FEE APPLICABILITY This surcharge applies to all gas sales and transportation services rendered under all tariff rate schedules and contracts authorized by the Commission, with the exception of (i.) interdepartmental sales or transfers, (ii) sales or transportation services to electric, gas, or steam heat public utilities, and (iii) transportation services to electric generation facilities for wholesale sales to electric, gas or steam heat public utilities or the California Independent System Operator. An electric generator that sells all or only a portion of its electricity production wholesale to an electric, gas, or steam public utility or the California Independent System Operator must provide a written report (Report of Exemption from G-PUC, Form No. 142-1270) of the exempt gas quantities to the utility within 3 business days, unless prior to this date the Utility and Customer agree to an alternate receipt date, following the month in which gas was consumed in order to receive the exemption. If all gas quantities that are delivered to the electric generator will be exempt on a continuing basis, the electric generator will be exempt on a continuing basis; the electric generator may provide a prospectively effective Report of Exemption with a duration that shall not exceed twelve (12) calendar months. b.
